About the Journal
Ittesaal– Journal of Connecting Discourses (IJCD) is an open access English Language, bi-annual, double-blind peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing intellectual dialogues within the Social Sciences, Humanities and Islamic Studies. IJCD provides a global platform for original research, critical reflection and inter-disciplinary dialogue that bridge Islamic intellectual thought with contemporary humanistic thought. IJCD welcomes contribution from scholars worldwide on diverse areas including Religious Studies (with prime focus on Islamic thought and civilization); Classical Islamic Sciences as Quran, Hadith, Fiqh; Interdisciplinary Orientation, Historical and Cultural Studies, Sociology and Education, Ethical and Contemporary issues. The journal also enumerates Religious Pluralism, peace and conflict studies, postcolonial perspectives, and historical inquiries that gained global reach.
Committed to upholding high ethical and academic standards, IJCD promotes cross-cultural, inter-religious, and faith-based dialogue, ethical and philosophical inquiry, and interdisciplinary perspectives. The journal publishes original research articles, conceptual & theoretical papers, comparative studies, and critical book reviews to foster scholarly engagement across diverse traditions and global contexts. The concept of IJCD was conceived in 2024, with its foundational and developmental processes initiated the same year, followed by the development of the journal’s official website and digital platform in 2025.
Aims and Focus
IJCD is an open access, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advance critical and interdisciplinary scholarship in social sciences, humanities, and religious studies. IJCD explores the intellectual, cultural, historical, political and social dimensions of human experience through Islamic lens as well as broader humanistic inquiry. The journal welcomes scholarly contribution worldwide that values diversity in methodology, interpretation and perspective. IJCD supports emerging researchers and interdisciplinary collaborations that deepen our understanding of Islam’s engagement with global humanity.
Scope
The journal's scope encompasses social sciences, humanities, and religious studies. IJCD welcomes original research articles, conceptual & theoretical papers, comparative studies, and critical book reviews that contribute to the understanding of:
Religious Studies— including theology, philosophy, mysticism (Sufism), jurisprudence; comparative religious and inter-faith dialogues;
Qur’an, Hadith and Fiqh studies— that revolves around interpretation, methodology, hermeneutics and comparative analysis; and art, architecture and aesthetics in terms of Islamic creativity
Interdisciplinary Orientation— IJCD encourages contribution that bridge disciplines including sociology, history, anthropology, law, theology and literature that connects with both classical and modern scholarships
Historical and Cultural Studies— past and contemporary developments in intellectual and socio-political structures;
Sociology and Education— traditional and modern perspective regarding sociological and educational theories, comparative study and related themes;
Ethical and Contemporary issues— moral philosophy, human rights, gender, environment and technology from Islamic and humanistic perspectives
To be brief, IJCD extends beyond the study of religion to include the social, political, and cultural dynamics that shape the interaction between society and religion. Topics of interest includes various dimensions of religious studies (particularly Islam); social sciences including sociology, philosophy, psychology, gender-studies; post-colonial studies, different civilizations and their cultures; and related fields.
